The Importance (and Fun!) of a Quiver

I'm a creature of habit. I have a nice ~16 mile ride that I can do right from my house. It's the only place I rode the entire summer this past year. Not a single mile ridden any where else. It's 30% rooty single track, 60% gravel and 10% road. I use a MTB for it. Maybe a gravel bike would be better. I like the MTB.

To be honest I'm not sure what a gravel bike is. How do they do banging over tree roots? Whatever, I'm not likely to change until/if/when I move to the adk. Then I'll probably get a full suspension and be done with roads all together.

In truth the weather and conditions have very little to do with when I ski. I ski when I have time and when my kids have time. It’s almost always a weekend. If I pass on a day I’m not getting it back. So I am willing to ski hardback.

So even though we are opposite we are also the same. My family situation is also driving my choice of ski days.

The difference is I am being pushed to weekdays, mostly. So I have 5 days to choose from. I choose soft snow whenever I can.

If it's hard everywhere, I work instead. Hence on 19 ski days this year.

I broke this out, not sure I did it exactly right. I avoided (barely) :) giving it a cynical title.

Haven’t skied on a weekend this year yet. Letting the other folks have at it as they deserve some fun too. Might go Sunday for a bit though.??

A quiver isn’t important, it’s just more fun!

The skiing here can be a lot like the east. We get long dry periods and mf cycles in the middle of winter. Things can get pretty darn firm. Resurfaced groomers can still ski pretty good generally, I’m not into skiing set up coral reef boiler plate but as long as it’s going to warm up and get softer I’m in. Something that rails a bit better then my free ride skis sure can be fun for that stuff.

My family doesn't ski... at least not like they used to. Almost all of my days this year has been spent away from them.
You guys don't get a winter house anymore? It's really the nights, not the days, that are the issue. So looking forward to skiing all of NY and VT and spending the nights at home.

Except of course that first season when I ski EVERY SKI AREA in NY. :)

Just added the Head Kore 93,s (95 in 189 length) and they may be the best ski I have. Hate to admit it..still can't ..but better in some ways than my Wagners. Crazy lightweight and stiff enough to do 50 with..hardpack , ice, moguls, crud..I put them through the test at Park City...Got the last pair for 389.00...cheaper than the bindings I had. Time to give the Wagners a rest..don't want to wear them out.
Combined with the Kore 117...I'm good for anything.
