It’s like a nutcracker that grabs the rope. Have to tuck it away when you ski down or it will become one.

I believe the main tow at Mount Greylock Ski Club was originally gas but at some point was replaced with a diesel which was then converted to propane.

I have heard that it is in fact the fastest tow over the ground. Faster than most detachables.
