A friend I skied with today told me he got a new pair of K2 Mindbenders.
I asked him why he wasn’t skiing on em yet? ... What're ya waiting for? Summer or a rainy day?
He replied,
What?
We both laughed and then he explained his quiver details.
He also has 2 pairs of the exact same kind of another type of K2s. One's for rocks and the other he skied today.

Yea I know lame...not enough snow down here, only a few days on the epochs. maybe this weekend I'll have to head somewhere

I wise man once said “wind is the architect of avalanches.”
Wind can’t take all the credit of course but it often can be a huge factor in rapidly increasing the danger.

High Flats State Forest. What a difference a day makes. Minus 2 yesterday, booting up in the parking lot at Whiteface. Today (Feb. 7 2022) 33 degrees and mashed potatoes on the menu.
Glad they’re OK.
Hope they don’t leave there poles and a ski in there.

They are very lucky. It doesn’t look like the slides in the Daks have much clean run outs and they look littered with obstacles. It’s trauma city.
Gotta have that alpine start if it’s going to get warm and if it barely freezes at night or doesn’t at all, just stay home.

I found some snow! Very spring-like out in the Tooley Pond Tract today (2/20/22). Bye bye snow...sniff...

Not a destination, in and of itself, but if you have your gear and are traveling Route 3 stop off behind the Town of Saranac offices--known locally as "Suicide Hill". Feb. 25 2022, the skiing featured 10 inches of blower pow. Best snow of the season, no ice at the beginning, middle or end. Overlies a horrible glacier, unfortunately, but at least it is a base! I do wonder where this trail goes--aim to find out someday...
