Well, it was a bit of a low season for overall trip reports from the Hinterlands but we managed to pull off a real high note of a season-ender. After a year of planning, the WWHSTA board and the management at Sir Sam's Ski & Ride coordinated to host "WWHSTA Day" at Sir Sam's on Saturday. It helps theat the GM of Sir Sam's is a WWHSTA member and keen BC skier.
The chair did not foretell great conditions but things were actually pretty good:
The day had a pretty simple format: lifts closed, lodge open, bar open, get uphill under your own power, slide down and repeat. Our main man Dave M checks in:
We were also greeted by snacks in the lodge. Nothing better than free food for a dirtbag skier:
A couple of more Daves confer before heading up. Keeners in the background:
The crew was mostly skiers but we also had a few splitboarders and one guy with some cool approach skis and a snowboard:
And then the skins come off:
Skinner on the right is Randy, GM at Sir Sam's skinning up the hill he manages every day, just beside the covered Magic Carpet. His trusty pooch Jasper is the small dot to the left. How cool is that?
Woot! A gaggle of skiers.
A wide range of ages were represented, here's the young crowd:
Here's the old crowd (me!):
Such a great day, this is why it pays to get organized.
