Stuart talks to Danielle and Laszlo of Plattekill

Yea I haven't gotten there yet. Ever since I've known Laz he has been interested in and working on private partnerships.

I like hearing Laz subtly giving Matt credit about his aggressive approach to snowmaking.

The Mountain Creek thing is interesting, one of the reasons I am listening.

Mountain Creek, Plattekill and Holiday Mountain!

I just listened to 30 mins of my first pod ever. I'm not a fan of the medium.
Glad you didnt waste time on that Alterra dude. But, it's worth hearing just to realize how some people think.

Best to listen while driving or working out. There's a whole world of stuff out there, and it's free. Add YouTubes that work mainly as audio, and you'll never listen to radio again.

The thing for me is I have zero commute.

The only real driving I do is to ski in winter, and I NEED tunes to get that done. I use sirius and youtube for that.

This was a very refreshing interview. Sound like good people with a passion for the sport, their mountain and ski community. I'll have to visit some time.

Let us know when you are coming.

I listened to the rest of it. Still didn't really learn too much that was new, but I'm glad I listened.

To me, the most important part of the pod is at 1:20 when Danielle explains what they are doing, and why their customers are willing to pay more for a Plattekill ticket or pass.

It's the same thing at the end when she talks about Indy. They clearly understand their brand.

Well worth the drive! Looking down at 1000 ft vertical with bumps is fantastic for the region.

February 2014 on a Friday, see the skier below?

I know I sound like a broken record but I proudly enjoy reminding everyone that I’ve been saying for years that the mega pass phenomenon will ultimately have a favorable affect for a lot of mom and pop operations.

There are many examples where mass production of a product leads to a rise in value of the original handmade version.

Plattekill is doing well because they continue to protect the experience. Plattekill isn't going to be beat Vail or ORDA in a price war.

You’re right. The older I get, the more I think we need all three tiers for the industry to remain healthy. Feeder hills play a vital role in getting people into the sport and building lifelong skiers. The mega passes are very affordable for cash strapped twenty somethings and casual participants. Plattekill is something else. It’s a spectrum but it all works together symbiotically.
