Traditionally, the way to avoid paying to store your bag is to boot up at the car, but with more resorts encouraging carpooling or public transit, this isn't an option for a growing number of skiers. I can't think of a more effective way to discourage carpooling or public transit than providing only paid options for bag storage.
Unless I missed it during the 5 days I was there a few years back, I found it uber-annoying @ JH that there was no "base lodge". Couple little cafes and shops to get stuff, but no place with a bunch of table to just sit down and boot up. Only place we found was a little nook outside a coffee shop that had some benches and pay lockers. Was fine for us and we adjusted, but the first day I was def scratching my head looking around.

I had the same reaction during the first trip to JH.

People who park at the Wildcat parking lot at Alta don't really have a place to stuff shoes or bootbags for free any more. Starting with the pandemic season, the Goldminer's Daughter took away the shelves and spaces for leaving a boot bag on the ground floor. There are a few pay lockers. There are free cubbies in a small locker room over on the Albion side but not many people know they exist.

Taos changed their locker room to install a few banks of pay lockers. But kept some free cubbies. Also don't care about boot bags left along the wall or under a bench. Most locals boot up in the parking lot any way.

Both Mount Peter. They built a whole new building for rentals. Thats along the outside of it

The paid parking virus strikes again, this time at Copper.

Copper is an unlimited Ikon destination. However, they are owned by Powdr, not Alterra. As a Killington passholder, this does have me concerned, as they are also owned by Powdr. However, Killington is not unlimited on Ikon and our pass is a lot more expensive.

It almost sounds like you view a more expensive pass as a good thing.

Resorts with expensive passes don't tend to have paid parking in all or most of their lots, or if they do, then they include parking with their season passes. Alta, Camelback, and Crystal are like that.
