Ski Books

Two Planks and a Passion, Roland Huntford, The Dramatic History of Skiing.
Excellent a world view history.

The Edge of Never by Bill Kerig is a true story and a good read.
Freedom Found, the last book by Warren Miller, is one of the strangest books I ever read. He describes his whole life- riding his bike as kid, rescued from a sinking ship in WW2, his mother in jail, meeting some princess somewhere, his mother stealing all the money, winning a national sailing championship with his son- all in a continuous monotone narrative, as if nothing ever affected him.

I have read both of them. Excellent choices. Warren Miller was for sure a resilient guy. His first memoir from the old days is worth reading too- more gonzo and less heartbreak.

+1 for Edge of Never, see also my signature

Thanks for the recommendations. Just finished Tracking the Wild Coomba about Doug Coombs. Listened to the audio book. Made me both want to ski the steeps and remind me I’ve got no business skiing the steeps. The epilogue is nice too. All about the foundation his wife set up in his name to provide skiing to low income minority kids living in Jackson Hole.

Agree, that Seems like an oxymoron TJ
