Season Pass Partners

Plattekill has survived many warm low snow years.

The Ski Cooper pass is a bit of a game. Indy protects their members by trying to keep separation between resorts to prevent season pass sales cannibalization.

Yep, Cooper gets all the money from people who don't live anywhere near Colorado and have no intention of ever skiing Cooper.

Indy distributes a share of the 85% of revenue to all partners based on usage. At least that was the percentage when Doug Fish owned Indy. Most likely will continue under the new ownership.

The Indy Add-On for season pass holders of Indy resorts is an option that makes sense. I think each resort can choose whether or not to offer it. Just as Ikon Partners can decide to offer a heavily discounted Ikon Base pass to season pass holders (cannot be upgraded to Ikon Base Plus or Full Ikon).

Mt. Bohemia tried a reciprocal game for a while. Not sure it still does that.

The notion of using these single-mountain passes as a stand-in for national megapasses can be, I’ll admit, a bit of a dirty game. Many of these resorts mail passes, so there is nothing stopping someone who lives in, say, New York, from buying a $299 (last year’s price) Ski Cooper pass and using it three times each at Holiday Valley and Greek Peak. But, as skiers, it’s not our job to protect ski areas from their own decisions. When Whitefish partnered with Mount Bohemia a few years back, granting Boho’s $99 passholders three free lift tickets, Whitefish inserted a protection clause to keep locals from using the pass as a de-facto three-pack: Montana residents were not eligible for the free tickets.

The MCP allows season pass holders of a MCP resorts to get a 50% discount on day tickets for all the other MCP resorts. The idea is to keep locals from getting the MCP instead of a season pass. That became more relevant after Snowbird joined the MCP. Alta was a founding partner for the MCP, along with Aspen/Snowmass, JH, and Squaw/Alpine back in 2012.

I think Mount Bohemia got thrown off the Freedom Pass for their $99 season pass sale. I don’t know how many people took advantage of it but $99 for 3 days each at Plattekill and Magic was pretty attractive all by itself and there were a few other NE hills on it if I remember correctly. Bolton and S6 I think.

Mt Bohemia still has reciprocals with their pass. This is last years reciprocals

SAM has a long article about the Cooper vs Indy situation. Not that much new info, but SAM is likely to hear more in the future from folks running resorts that don't want to be too public about their reactions.

Reciprocals in relation to golf club membership is a nice perk especially when yer home course is closed due to a tournament.
YMMV.

jeez, I don’t think I ever heard of skanateatles ski club before. That place looks cool

Drove by it today coming home this afternoon.
They made snow (looks like HKD’s) and have top to bottom and another little place for beginners covered thickly in white. Ya get to ski assistedly up too.
Nobody was there yet today cause it’s only open when folks in the club want it to be.

Doug’s Fish Fry in Skinny pairs well for a nice apres ski meal.
They have good food that won’t break the bank.
Doug’s just won the SBA Owner of the Year Award.
Mark was Doug’s 1st employee and bought it from Doug.
Doug's been running like a well oiled machine for many decades.
