Rank The Lifts at Your Favorite Ski Areas

Obviously, since I’m a Platty-Stan, the double is my fave. The triple is a close second though. I guess that makes the Magic Carpet number three. I don’t really care for the tubing lhill lift.

In no order. My favorite lifts.

Sublette quad, JXN. This is often combined with Thunder.

Tram, JXN.

Tram, Snowbird.

Puruvian, Snowbird.

Single, MRG.

Double, Plattekill.

All the main chairs at Taos.

North Face poma, Created Butte.

My favorite five;

Lift 7, Belleayre

Red Chair, Magic

Mammoth Chair, Silverton

Lone Peak Tram, Big Sky

Aiguille du Midi Tram, Chamonix

I like the new direction for this thread.

Pound for pound no lift in NY beats the Plattekill Double for adventure. It services 80% of the skiable terrain, and more than that when the side country is in.

The Hall lift at McCauley, you're riding a museum piece, serving legit black terrain, trees, with good snowfall.

The Snow Pocket Tbar might be a contender in the pound for pound category.

I like the Whiteface Summit chair.

I don't know shit about lifts out west or even in VT.

I do like Red. I like the way she is so low, close to the terrain and out of the wind. And it's a double, and it's red.

I like the quad at Wildcat too. Or I did when I was there 10 years ago. The perfect spot for a high speed quad, it serves 100% of terrain.

If Gore had treated the Dark Side with a religious fervor, replacing the old shit lift with a beautiful Hall Double, it would be my second favorite lift, but they didn't, so it ain't.

There is a TON of awesome terrain at Gore, possibly the most interesting mountain in NY. But no single lift inspires me.

Sounds like I have a few more places to hit. Good to know.

I've never skied at Magic, but the Red Chair did save my friend's ski days on 3 separate occasions. He told me that all 3 times he has skied at Magic, he did not begin the day intending to ski at Magic, but ended up there due to issues at other resorts.

First was Mount Snow due to wind.
Second was Bromley due to covid.
Third was Bromley due to wind.

The red at magic. Very entertaining watching action below.
Dbl at plattekill. See Harvey’s post.
Single at mad river.
The poma lift at hickory. Fond memories

I should add the Gemstock in Andermatt but I only skied off of it for a few days when the snow wasn’t great. It’s probably the most epic lift I’ve ever been on but not experiencing it in its full glory feels disingenuous for me.

Oh….and I listed the double at Plattekill, I e actually never been on it. It was the t bar when I skied there. F I loved that thing.
