Had a very good time at the Plattekill Work Day. Well worth the drive since I could combine the trip with meeting up with a friends on the way up and back. Fall colors along US15 from Carlisle to Cooperstown were good. Never really been in that part of PA.

Sunshine all morning was a bonus, especially with no wind at all. By the time people were loading the lift around 9:30, there was clear blue sky above the mountain. The double was used because the painters had stuff set up for work being done on the triple. Clouded up after lunch, but only a tiny sprinkle for a minute or two. I started walking down around 3:30 for the 3-hour drive to my stop in the Poconos for the rest of the weekend.

Wait….what?

Where did you drive from to make this event?
From my house near Raleigh, NC. :)

Met up for a chat with a ski forum character in northern VA on the way. Hadn't seen him since we caught up at lunch in Utah a few years ago. He tells great stories. Stayed in PA on Thursday night. That's why I had time to wander up US15 on the way to Cooperstown. Got there in time for a good dinner at the Cooperstown Diner on Friday night.

Driving home tomorrow from the Poconos. Going south on I-81 to US29 per usual.

Been trying to work getting to the Plattekill Work Day into my schedule for years. That's why I asked so early in September what the date was going to be. Even so, finding a motel room for Friday night near Roxbury during prime fall color season wasn't that easy.

Great turnout for the annual Plattekill Glade Clearing this past weekend, thank you to all who came out to lend a hand. We had approximately 60 participants, which allowed us to cover a lot of terrain, open up some new lines, and revisit some areas that were in need of some maintenance. Needless to say, the stoke was high, and it was great to see and meet a lot of first timers in the mix with the regulars. Looking forward to another awesome season at Platty!
