Plattekill Conditions

I was the guy with the cool mustache
I think I saw you from the lift skiing with your son, was hoping to catch up and say hi but never did

What was the deal with those kids (I hope none of them were out of their teens) who thought it was cool to ski the grass, sometimes in long sections? You know those kids aren’t paying for their own tune ups, surely Mom and Dad will pay the extra $30 for the resulting base repair! Did it look kinda cool for a moment here or there? Sure, until one of ‘em on a long grass section hit a rocky patch and yard sale’d, with deserved face plant into the grass/dirt. He got up so it was hard to feel bad for him, and what did he really think was gonna happen….assuming he was thinking at all?
Tons of folks doing that at BEast the Sat before - some clearly parents with kids. They opened the natural snow LiftLine run which is almost never open and only had patches of snow - and everyone could see what they were getting into as it was right under the lift. No idea why folks would choose to ski dirt when other runs have snow.

The kid I saw double eject on the grass on Face took quite a tumble, but he was apparently fine. He was skiing with Laz and Nick so maybe they hooked him up with whatever peetex he needed. Laz actually sidestepped back up several steps to get him his gear.

Skiing the grass has been a hot trend for a few years now. I see lot's of guys on Insta doing it.

Sounds like good clean fun

Right? Bunch of old fuddie duddies here
To be clear, I don’t give a whit if they do it. As I said, kinda looked a little fun. It just doesn’t make any sense to me, even if using rock skis. I guess you didn’t see the guy who tried to straight line the loooong grass stretch skier’s right of lower face. He fell hard. It’s one thing falling on snow or even hard pack, it’s another face planting into rocky grass. As fun as it might have looked, seems like a risk not worth taking, is all I’m saying.
