ORDA Snowmaking Improvements

Here is what you need to do: change the NYS Constitution section about the ski areas so somebody else can either operate the areas or even buy the areas.
I hate the govt being involved in anything they shouldn’t be, but who other than Vail or Alterra could afford this? Is that what you really want? Epic/Ikon crowds, parking and every other add on that will come along in the next few years. Yes ORDA can be a bit frustrating at times but their still mostly uncrowded. I’ve paid an absolute crapload in taxes over my years as a NYS resident and I finally get to enjoy a small slice of it and prefer to keep it that way.

Can't argue this. I too bitch-n-moan about NYS and all it's blunders. That said, the amount of state land for use, the amount of snowmobile trails for use, the amount of fishing waters for use, as well as all the skiing we have is truly remarkable.

If Gore had followed your advice and never expanded on to Burnt Ridge or the Ski Bowl what would be the "percentage open?"
Wondering about this.

Wondering about this.
From the most recent “snow report”
All lifts but High Peaks so 6 outta 7 ... beginner area has 2 outta 4 running.(Not counting the Burnt Ridge and Ski Bowl stuff)

Trails
Northside 1 open outta 9.
High peaks 2 open outta 12.
Straightbrook 3 open outta 10.
Topridge 5 open outta 5.
Northwoods count is tricky.
(not counting beginner areas) 9 open for “public" skiing outta 25 total.
Some have an orange checker board flag indicating closed due to races but still have a green check mark that I didn’t include as they're racing on em YMMV.
Beginner area(s) 1 open outta 3
Total calculated is 21 outta 64. .)
It’s for Friday the Thirteenth during the start of WUG week, so there’s that.
Ya should be able to have some fun at Gore tomorrow. Hopefully it snows more.

They will put a pumphouse at the ski bowl and have that thing opened in two days along with the Nordic trails. No one in LP or Gore has much say in what gets built. It's not like they can say we are not taking the money for the lodge and are going to put it into snowmaking. The state will say ok and there will be no snowmaking or lodge. Someone in Albany said we will build a lodge for you. All they can really say is thank you
The ORDA Board which is heavily weighted to LP has some say. The 1 board member representing Gore has no say.

There are other companies in addition to these 2 who would do a better job than ORDA has done at Gore.
Is that what you really want? Epic/Ikon crowds, parking and every other add on that will come along in the next few years.
So the choices are 210,000 visits at Gore or 600,000 visits like Mt Snow/Stratton/Okemo? How about a small increase to 260,000 visits? Gore has doubled in size in the last 2 decades and is still doing the same visits. How come this waste of taxpayer money does not bother you?

Please spare us the "I paid taxes" argument - we all have paid taxes and ORDA contiunues to do a crap job at Gore.

Again - read the ORDA legislative mandate. Here is #1
"Institute a comprehensive, coordinated program of activities utilizing the Olympic facilities, Gore Mountain, and Belleayre Mountain, in and around Lake Placid, North Creek, and Highmount, New York, in order to ensure optimum year-round use and enjoyment of these facilities to the economic and social benefit of the regions and to minimize the financial burden on state and local government by maximizing revenue opportunities."

I bolded what ORDA fails to do at Gore.
