ORDA Snowmaking Improvements

There is not enough money in the ORDA budget to payoff the whores from the FIS to get a race at WF. Maybe the Lussi Family can check their petty cash box.

There’s FIS sanctioned races already at both Gore and Whiteface, just not ones with the big dogs (World Cup) yet.

There’s FIS women's GS and slalom races at Whiteface in mid December.

Gore has FIS freestyle and “freeski/ski-cross” events planned too for February.

Tain’t no Skimo though...
yet.

Here’s a recent ditty about Gore’s snowmaking.

I was talking about the FIS management. Most east coast ski areas with a race program have FIS points races.

Hydro-Quebec is a gold sponsor for the January 2023 World University Games.
Hydro-Quebec is in the NYS news today.
They oughta at least give some juice to ORDA onit's way to NYC.

My first post in this thread, but I have to echo what some others have said ... The snowmaking capacity at Whiteface appears to be like nothing I've seen here before. There were guns all the way down approach continuing down Mountain Run. More guns going on Draper's Drop and more still on Boreen. It's pretty clear that if Mother Nature cooperates with cold temperatures, they should be able to really get the mountain covered very quickly.

My guess just by looking at the number of guns is a 30-50% increase in gpm over what they could do before.

Really impressed with how much snow Belleayre has made. About 90% of their snowmaking trails are open, most of which are wall to wall coverage with a deep base. I think on a GPM per acre basis they are actually better than both Hunter and Windham.

Much less impressed with Gore and Whiteface. While they made significant improvements to their systems, they are in way over their heads with the university games. In order to expand terrain, both went super thin and not full width. Gore in particular lost a significant percentage of their open terrain and is down to just 28 trails open for tomorrow.

Also speaking for Gore, as of the 26th, the only trail with a deep base was Wild Air, which is about to close to the public for a month.

We’ll see how Gore and Whiteface focus their snowblowers after Thursday, when nighttime temps get cold enough again to retouch trails and blow some ❄️ on the ones yet to see a manmade flake.

With the WUG coming to both late next week & MLK-Monday it should make things more than a bit interesting.
Belle wins cause they don’t have to play WUG yet get ORDA funding snowmaking upgrades...
