ORDA Opening Announcement Rant

I'm not a big fan of orda but I think this is bashing they don't deserve. It's I remember correctly K gave 2 days notice of when they were opening. So if Orda announced today they would be on the same page. Anyone who skis these hills knows they open the day after Thanksgiving. The only change is when they open earlier. I think it's been once in the past 15 years they missed the date. Maybe twice.
K is different. Their goal is to be the first to open, so they are super aggressive with snowmaking and hitting every window, no matter how marginal. A few degrees difference from the forecast could be the difference between opening and not, and it is likely that they do not know for sure that they are opening until they announce.

I am pretty sure whiteface announces their date of opening is the day after Thanksgiving... Like it is every year. They said that the day they closed. Seems reasonable. Are you upset cause they don't give you a firm yes? But it's ok for k?
Your the stats guy how many times in the past 15 years has whiteface missed the Friday after Thanksgiving? I bet the Lyons wish they had that record on turkey day. Lol ski hard young man.

Opening days on limited terrain are always going to suck, if your stoke is so high you just gotta roll with the punches.

I learned my opening day lesson last year (not ORDA) never riding in PA again .

What was RA saying in the…..you know….the other thread?

Yutes!

How long have they had tickets for Friday on sale?

I have no interest in being in the WROD Squad, so I don’t care.

Wha, whaa, whaaaaa!
That was a combination of pent up demand after a pandemic summer and fall plus extra distancing between people waiting in a lift line. Happened every day that was busy in the mid-Atlantic and many destination resorts. Lots of pictures last Dec-Jan.

To be fair to ORDA, the weather hasn't been totally ideal for blowing snow. Mt van Hoevenberg pushed their opening date back by a week.
