Old School Skiing

Giardia? We don't care about no stinking giardia!
spending my 70's summers in the Cadyville area we drank directly from the brooks all the time as kids...

I got Amebiasis in the ADKs from the Snowbird spring while hiking the Great Range Traverse. I highly don’t recommend it.

Wasn't an issue when I was at North Country School in the 1960s. The kids carried a cup to drink from brooks during camping trips or day hikes.

But by the time I was going up to Lake Placid for the summer alumni gathering in the 1980s, you had to be careful. There was a case of a Camp Treetops alum getting Giardia one summer after 2000. Probably didn't realize how much had changed since they had been a camper.

Bro, this is the old school skiing thread not one about urban fashion. Get real.
Since when is fur not old school?
Folks use fur when they first put boards on their feet.
The ’26 Winter Olympics are gonna be in Milan (maybe even in LP).
It was a just a compare & contrast in relation to the past...

Sheesh.

@Ripitz Watching old school film of the Thunderbolt doesn't get old. Any idea when this was filmed?
The description says it was an amateur race sometime between 40 and 42. There’s great earlier footage as well as some that’s more recent in Purple Mountain Majesty. The war played a big part in the early trails and races. I think the course record is 2:25 set by the dang Nazis.
