NY Lost Ski Areas

Not too much, I was pretty young, my dad had taken me there 2 or 3 times. The one thing I remember was how the lodge was at the top of the hill. Personally I've never been to another ski area that had that.

Sometime in the 80's Capt Davy Jones bought the place (father of the NASCAR driver Davy Jones), he would fire up the lifts and have friends over to go skiing. I never had the chance to go but I do know some that had that opportunity.

Here's what an Intermont photo search brings up:

The pics in the gallery of that link are pretty cool. Surprised how run down the lodge is. Last I knew a group out of NJ bought the place for hunting (I used to hunt bordering land to Intermont), must be they don't use the lodge anymore.

I laughed :D

This snowmaking pond is full of nice bass. I've fished it many times.

Me either. From your article I recalled Anderland. While I never skied there I do remember going tubing, and the lodge was pretty cool.

Cool report James and Campy,. I love reading Jeremy Davis books on Lost ski areas.

Another "upside down" design lost ski area is Juniper Hills which was located in Harrisville ,New York near Lake Bonaparte .

You bought your ticket at the top ,then skied down a massive 170 ft vertical? overlooking the lake. It closed in 1979 I believe

One of the boys I skied with yesterday said he’s reading this one^^^ and will let me read it.
I looked for it in Charlie John’s store in Speculator, they didn’t have it, but bought a nice Speculator hat for golfing.

Lost ski areas of the Southern Adirondacks is a great read. Wanted a couple years ago really enjoyed it I also have the northern Adirondack version too. I also bought a book last year which is a history of Snow ridge which was the closest hill to where I grew up as a kid in New Hartford New York . Really cool book can't remember the title now .
