I didn’t want to post anything negative on opening day yesterday, but Gore has not yet hung the chairs on the new Sunway lift. I never ride that lift, but it’s an important lift for beginners, especially when the AE2 doesn’t run. We can also estimate the High Peaks completion date from the Sunway progress.

The Gore Facebook page has a timeline that starts with placing the Sunway terminals on November 7. If it takes a week to hang the chairs and a week for testing, that makes Sunway available on December 18, 41 days after the terminals were placed.

The pour for the HP upper terminal foundation was done on November 19, and that probably needs to cure for 28 days. That means the terminal may not be placed until December 17, and by the same schedule as Sunway, the cable won’t be spliced until December 30, and the lift won’t be available until January 27!

Also from the Gore Facebook page, Upper Cloud, and everything from it (Rumor, Lies, Open Pit, Headwaters, Cloud Out), will not be open until the communication cables for the new lift are installed. The only route from the top will be Chatiemac and Hawkeye until that's done, so not before the terminal is placed, so sometime after December 17. Even if the terminal can be placed this week (doubtful) we're still more than a month away from riding that lift or even skiing anywhere on that side.

Chairs were being transported to the base of lift 3 this morning.

:geek: Milo the regular screw-up thread wasn't quite right?

You know you’re mad with moderator power since you sprung for the new software, right?
Yes. It's a natural reaction when you go from an abacus to a super computer.

Is it time for an intervention yet?
