Because there was no way to automatically import the Nabble member list to Xenforo our membership is significantly lower than it was. With Nabble we had 1000 registered members, but when we checked the email addresses over the summer about 700 them were still working. The data indicated that about 350 of them were active.

Right now we are at ~160 members. we envisioned getting back to 250 by year end. Really not too focused on it. But if you know someone who you think would fit in here (skis NY or VT, or has ties to the east, orwants to share stoke, learn about conditions) maybe encourage them to join us.

We'd also like to use this thread for new members to introduce themselves here. Tell us about yourself below.

I'm Harvey. I started this website back in 2008 as a place to aggregate my weather links and save my favorite pictures. In 2010 I started the original forum (at the suggestion of the legendary Snowballs) when it became apparent that SkiAdk had been abandoned by the owner.

I'm a flatlander who loves the Adirondacks. My dream is to move to the mountains in 3-4 years when I retire, building a house on some property we own near Gore.

I started visiting the mountains in the late 1980s, primarily for nordic skiing. In the late 90s I started riding lifts. I primary ski NY and Vermont: Gore, Plattekill, McCauley, Snow Ridge, Hunter, Whiteface, Magic, Killington and Smuggs. I'd really like ski more of Central and Western NY. I'll do a much of that as I can now, but plan a tour of NY after I retire.

New and existing members: Introduce yourself below.

Oh well, I guess I'll go next. My name is Peter. My great grandparents were caretakers at Great Camp Pine Knot on Racquette Lake back in the day. My mother married a guy from NJ, so I'm a flatlander with Adirondack roots. I ski cross-country.

Addendum: I found my avatar perched on a dead tree in the woods, in a place that I run often. Mount van Ho and Prospect Mt are my home ski centers.

Hello friends. My name is Gord, not a common name in the Excited States but pretty popular up here in Canada, better known in these parts as Hinterlandia. Once I thought it would be clever to base my user name on a pair of skis I was fond of at the time. Now I am stuck with it: Sick Bird Rider. Truth be told, I have visited the Adirondacks several times and have even skied at Titus and Whiteface.

So i AM the old fart in this group of merrymakers .Been hanging here since early "aughts ". I love to go fast hence the handle Warp Daddy cuz i am older than dirt .

We've Been living along the St Lawrence River, near the 1000 Islands for more than a half a century , moved here right outta grad school for a University job. Unlike Sara Palin i CAN see Canada out my window ? and really miss seeing my Canuck buddies and skiing at Tremblant in this perpetual groundhog day Covid event.

Back when i was in the game i was a college president and was a co founder of a consulting outfit , but ditched that gig after 30 plus years in the college business to make my life dream happen and retire early and take up lift assisted skiing and other stuff in the fifth decade of life

We were XC skiers for decades . the Queen of the Hop and me stay pretty active year around : gym rats ,road biking , walkers , tennis and oh yeah GOLF took that up too after i decided to get a life .

I am a half assed metal head guitar player that still plays daily ,hence the avatar . So I collect a few nice toys that help enhance the sound and of course give me tinnitis ?.And as posted loved skiing with my sons, grandboyz and The Queen of the Hop .

So that's my bio what's yours

Pine Knot !! What a Great place . My father worked there in the summer as a college student in the late 1930's . It was then a resort known as " The Antlers ".

I Stayed there a few times for conferences when SUNY CORTLAND took it over . The buildings represent various rooms in a House . We stayed in The Swiss Chalet. The Director then , a guy named George Fuge was a Adirondack Historian and spun great yarns each happy hr about William West Durant who built the place , he WAS a character and so was George ?

I've never visited it, one of these days I'll have to. I think my great grandparents moved to Warrensburgh some time between 1905-1910.

Hey all. I found NYSkiBlog back in 2011/12, but just re-registered on the new forums in the past week or so. I think my username was just snowmonkey on the old forums, but I can't recall for sure. I am originally from the Ithaca, NY area. I started bc/xc skiing in 2007, and a couple friends of mine turned me on to tele skiing in 2011. I had a season pass to Greek Peak for a few years, until I moved out to central MA in 2013. From there, my partner and I started travelling to ski resorts all over New England, trying to find a "home" mountain. We never really managed to find one (we have too many favorites), so we'd get the Peak--now Epic--pass and the Indy Pass and go wherever. About a year ago, the stars aligned just right for us, and we were able to pursue our dream of living in Vermont. We now live in Cabot, and this year we decided to go with the Ikon pass, but no Indy Pass, so most of our resort skiing will probably be at Sugarbush.

I tend to gravitate toward old school type ski resorts. My favorites over the years have been Gore, Wildcat, Magic, Berkshire East, Burke, Smuggs, and Mad River Glen. I'm hoping we have a snowy winter, as I really want to get out into the back country this winter, and we've found some really nice terrain practically in our back yard. I haven't done much back country touring since I left NY, and I really miss it. I'm eager to check out some of the work the Catamount Trail Association members (We are also members, but haven't done any volunteering yet!) have done cutting glades/trails in Willoughby State Forest and the Mad River Valley, both of which are about an hour away for us.

Haven't skied in NY only in a long time. Since it looks like NY will be my ski home all season long I figured it was time to join a NY centric forum. Sure I'll be at the SKI3 areas a bunch and looking forward to being a first time Plattekill passholder. Time for it to snow!

Hello friends. My name is Gord, not a common name in the Excited States

I have an Uncle Gord ---- he's one cool cat

I'm Camp, or Campgottagopee which was the name of the first hunting camp I hunted out of. Been around here for a while, cut my teeth, or should I say got my teeth kicked in on the old RSN forums. More of a hunter and sled rider that a skier these days but I do get out and ski on occasion, it just doesn't drive me like it used too. I'm from CNY, with deep family roots in the Dacks.

Peace ?
