ughAccording to whoever runs their instagram account it crosses Barkeater twice.

A new trail, with snowmaking is typically always an improvement. We won't know whether this is an improvement until the interconnection opens.
The lower part of Barkeater is what causes it to often be closed, due to insufficient coverage. If there's an exit onto the trail that bypasses the lower portion, the the upper portion should be open more.Sixty feet seems like a lot of trail for the amount of traffic you might see and, depending on it's exact route, it's wide enough to take a large part of Barkeater and all of it below the powerline.
Of course Pipeline will stay open. It's a major work road, and the only way to ski the full vertical. It's not going anywhere and neither is Abenaki. Also, what happens to Abenaki if they no longer maintain Pipeline above the Barkeater exit? On the plus side maybe all the new snowmaking there will allow them to open the interconnection earlier.
Nothing in it for you? Interconnect open more, additional trail on Burnt Ridge while maintaining the existing glades? Better connectivity between mountain areas? No those certainly aren't improvements. Seriously, you're against any investment in Gore. Just stop. There's nothing in this for me, but I understand why it's needed and it's the least bad new trail in the UMP.
Problem is there is no easy way back to the base lodge. This trail is a no-brainer, especially if they want people to actually utilize Little Gore and the new lodge they are building there.
Parking at Little Gore will be the new hotness. That trail is called Hedges. Maybe they'll open up the unmarked pass that goes between Hedges and Twister?Problem is there is no easy way back to the base lodge.
Ski Bowl chair -> pipeline -> BR quad -> whatever that little trail is called -> North chair.
What happens when people start that journey at 3:40
That was the original entrance to Tahawus Glade before they widened it into a work road when they built Burnt Ridge. It started with an uphill from Twister that was barely wide enough to herringbone. Some grading would be required to make it a trail from Burnt Ridge to Twister, but that would shorten the trip from Ski Bowl to the main lodge a lot. While they're at it, could someone please dynamite that annoying hump that you have to climb over at the top of Hedges?Parking at Little Gore will be the new hotness. That trail is called Hedges. Maybe they'll open up the unmarked pass that goes between Hedges and Twister?
Pipeline starts from the North Quad, and is part of the only way to ski the full 2,500' vertical drop in one go, so I would think that it will still be maintained.
We'll have to see what "crosses it twice" means, but it could have been the entire glade. I'm just hoping management gets that the Burnt Ridge glades are part of the appeal of Gore, and will leave them mostly alone.
This is probably the best possible outcome.
