Snowmaking Is Fired UP! -
Snowmaking is fired up at Ski Brule! The mountain crew will make snow at every possible opportunity to open with the best snow conditions. Snowmaking is a science and not […]skibrule.com
I figured that was the case. This season I'm looking at "first to open" in multiple regions. Have always followed the southeast Utah, and a few places in the northeast, but don't have any experience with the midwest. They are normally first to open in the state
As far as Michigan all the ski resorts except Mt Bohemia are normally open by mid December. Also as far as first to open on the state I think Mt Holly, Pine Nob and Alpine Valley in the suburbs of Detroit could be open by the end of the week. Now it won't be much but it will have lift service and maybe two ways down.I figured that was the case. This season I'm looking at "first to open" in multiple regions. How many of the Indy Pass locations in the midwest are usually open by mid-December?
Not 100% sure, but I seem to recall after a good solid two to three days of solid snow making they will open. Also they won't open with a 6" base either just to say they are open. I t will be in the 12"-24" range@MiSkier : any idea how many days of solid snowmaking it takes for Nub's Nob to decide it's worth opening? Apparently they were hoping to make some snow last night but it was too warm. Doesn't look like any chance to start until the weekend.
I am sure their goal is to open by the 25th. I know that is Caberfae Peaks goal. The SkyBridge will be closed Nov. 18-20 at Boyne Mountain so that they can focus on snowmaking. Wonder if that means opening by Thanksgiving weekend is likely?
I listened to Stuart's podcast with the Nub's Nob GM today. He noted that given the way snowmaking happens, usually there are five front-side trails that end up ready at the same time. Not 100% sure, but I seem to recall after a good solid two to three days of solid snow making they will open.
