Trump's approach is distributive negotiation, where one party is a clear winner over the other. He needs to be the dominant a-hole. This is way different than transactional negotiation, where everyone leaves the table feeling like a winner. I read an article about this, but I can't find it to cite it. No bueno for international relations.

It's also simply not how the world works.

If I want an apple, I give Hannaford's a dollar. They're happy with my money and I'm happy with my apple. Trump seems to live in a world where he walks into Hannaford's and demands that if he doesn't get an apple for free then he'll take a shit on the floor of the produce aisle. He might get the apple, that's true, but the downstream effects are somewhat less than ideal. He's not going to be allowed back in Hannaford's again for starters.

I would bet 75% of all the goods sold in Walmart are from China and the other 20% from other countries in Asia.
Not so sure, obviously electronics etc. but most of my wal-mart shopping is for cheap plastic crap, bins etc. for the camper, garage and house and I am always amazed how much is clearly identified as made in the USA.

Walmart kicks off its annual U.S. Manufacturing Summit in Arkansas on Tuesday, highlighting progress in its 10-year commitment to purchase $250 billion in American-made goods. With approximately 80 percent of Walmart’s suppliers still located in China,

I had a customer years ago who had Walmart as a customer. When he told them he had to raise his prices due to increased costs (including giving his workers an annual raise) they said, "Oh no. You're going to reduce your prices and we'll show you how. They had a whole department that introduced them to a supplier in China who would make their products for them cheaper.
Walmart is owned by the richest family in the country and they have a department to show their mostly part time workers how to apply for EBT cards, rent assistance, and CHIP healthcare for their kids. We essentially subsidize their workers because they don't provide them benefits and make sure to keep a majority under 30 hrs per week so they don't have to.

Weekend at Bernies was a better choice 🤔
It takes a special kind of stupid to spend most of your term on vacation, having an aid (or whoever) use the autopen and have a teleprompter for all events.....and literally do nothing for the common people - NOTHING ! .....and now the thread will get closed because I am on the "wrong" side.
