Love for Smuggs

Those slow lifts actually increase my own enjoyment, cray as that sounds. When I was at Smuggs, two different times, we had pow all day long.

You may not understand it, but do believe it. I love Smuggs.

Same. The views are something to enjoy and not highspeed through.

When Smuggs was my home hill Robins Run, and the Black Hole were not on the trail map. They were local treasures and treated that way. Can't imagine how locals felt when they hit the map.

My guess Stowe/ vail assuming five years from now they are still in their present form, purchases Smuggs for the tree skiing and expanded terrain, if they don’t it’s probably for two reasons, vt has told them no connections are allowed or they have done a financial analysis and the financial costs would out weigh any financial gain.
Certainly everything is for sale, I get that. I'd guess that as long as Switzer is still alive he won't sell it.
As for the interconnect, it used to be welcomed and in fact they actually groomed the trail across the pond. I don't know why they ever stopped that.

smuggs sound cool. Other great mountains that are rejected for slow lifts are Elk and Montage PA (relative to their peers). Great skiers’ mountains.

Complaining about Smuggs slow lifts is soooooooooo public corporate

they should just sell all basic skis as Nordic/alpine convertible. It would probably make skiing more likable for more people (good for manufacturers)

Their was an article in a ski magazine right after vail bought stowe, it sure seemed like the owner of Smuggs wants to sell to
vail, makes sense because what is Smuggs worth if vail does not buy them?

With a four runner quad that pow would last an hour.
Not necessarily. You could have a hsq chair but space the chairs out so it’s around the same capacity. I guess this might make the time in the line a bit longer but it’s easier to stay warm standing at the bottom than a longer time sitting on a wind blown chair ride.

According to ski magazine it’s the number 1 ski area on the east coast.......must be worth billions! ?

ski magazine can go pound sand, their top resort lists are dumb. If you compare visitation numbers to operating costs then smuggs ain’t it.

now best terrain in the east? Yeah, it’s in the top 3 imho.

Based upon their aging infrastructure and small lodge, Smuggs can’t be worth more than 10 million, my guess it’s only worth a lot to Stowe/ vail, if they dont buy, getting 10 million may be a dream.
