Killington Conditions

Killy used to run any lift as long as there was some fast grass. What happened?
Nothing happened, and the projected dates have always been rather fluid, in that they'll extend the season for certain lifts if there is enough snow. The only difference is that they have been very upfront about what the plan is, while in the past, they didn't tell you that a lift was closing until just before the last scheduled weekend.

In fact, they are extending operations at several lifts relative to the final Powdr years. Bear will stay open a week later than it usually does. South Ridge will stay open 2 weeks later than it was scheduled to last year, though they did add a bonus weekend last year, so it's a 1 week difference. They will also be running up to 4 lifts through May 11th, and 3 lifts thereafter.

With the exception of the WWC this had all been announced at the beginning of the season. That may have been announced too and I just missed it. We typically try to end our season at Superstar/ the umbrella bar but are shooting for Sugarbush this year with the $99 bonus tix, anybody been there late season?

Conditions today were pretty good! I think the clouds kept the snow from getting too slow. And all the trails with snow making seemed to still have decent coverage with only an occasional bare spot.

Skied Killington yesterday. Snow on Saturday helped a lot and coverage was still pretty solid for the open trails. Temps were in the low 30's. Winter conditions up top and spring conditions on the lower half.

I wanted to pass along a story. I was coming down East Fall and a young women had fallen going down the left hand side. I was the first to ski up to her and she was clearly very, very scared. One ski was off and she had no idea what to do. I tried to help her to see if she could get the ski back on but that wasn't working out at all. She was just too shaken and nervous. Another couple skied up and offered their help as well. The 3 of us were able to get calm her and steady her as best we could. That also gave me a chance to pull out my phone and get a direct call to ski patrol via the Slopes app. Ski patrol arrived about 10 minutes later and was able get the young woman down to the bottom safely. And I say this in all seriousness, having a quick way to contact ski patrol was a life saver. If you're a ski patroller reading this, thank you so very much for what you do.
