Killington Conditions

Am i sensing a more mature attitude?
Call it what you want. I just know the mountain well and think there will be decent skiing this weekend. I was there both days of MLK Weekend after a monsoonal rain event, and it wasn't half bad. Benny doesn't know what he's talking about. It's rare that he has anything positive to say about anything. I hope when I'm his age, that I won't be as miserable as he is.

Gawd, you deserve a crown. King Gaper. All hail.

I'll bet ten bucks you ski with a backpack.

Do you think that skiing on MLK weekend after a rain event at Killington is groovy? Maybe you are.

Oh gee look at what Sonolco wrote about Stratton a little while ago. I guess I'm not the only negative Nellie around here.

"Awful day today. Worst conditions I've skied all season. Even with recently sharpened edges I still couldn't hold on most of the boilerplate. They don't seem to know how to groom. If you tried to stick to the trails with active snowmaking, you were greeted by insanely wet guns, mostly making slush. That slush will turn to sheer ice when groomed out and frozen."

Grooming and proper snowmaking makes him a happy boy.

I go skiing every weekend. I don't care if you think that's groovy or not. I brought up that particular day because it represented a decent recovery from a far worse weather event.

Different days, and different mountains. Stratton is one resort that I have been consistently disappointed with in recent years. The main reason is snow conditions. They run their guns very wet and have what I call superficial grooming. In my experience, Killington does a better job. The weekend I went to Stratton, I went to Whiteface the other day, and even they had better conditions.

As I said, snowmaking and grooming. That's your thing. And lifts. Lots of lifts.
