Katz Speaks

It's all about audience. Vail isn't targeting customers who are following The Storm or even Vail on Twitter.

We think everyone is all outraged about Vail performance, but that is from inside the hardcore bubble.
I don't know. Pre Peak purchase, maybe, but, they know they are in trouble in the northeast, and this was an attempt to reach out to that skier, not the Vail one or two week a winter high roller. Fail.

All I know is, after listening to that man, I totally understand why I never heard from that company after I was turned away from Hunter last winter after driving two hours to ski. They said that employees "were excluded from work", my favorite corporate speak from 2021, and they didn't have enough staff, specifically, patrol, on their Facebook feed. I never even got an email, and, they know I was there, I reserved my skiing for the day, along with hundreds. Awful company, now led by a silent CEO who's sold soda pop.

Well I downloaded to Spotify and may listen this evening while I'm flying. I'll keep the air sickness bag at the ready :)

If ya got time and nothing else to do, count how many times he says “resort” versus how many times he says “snow".
Report back.
I’ll betit’s a 10 to 1 or greater ratio.
Letitsnow.

You don't need spotify to listen. Just go to stormskiing.com and click the play button.

I listened to this on a drive. One thing that really struck me (total arm chair psychology): while I did not agree with what was coming out, most of the time he was fairly articulate. Did you note in the handful of times he made statements relating to the current CEO (his support, working together, transitioning, her excellence), his verbal ticks (ya know, uh, etc.) dramatically increased in frequency. I found that, albeit a footnote, particularly interesting.

I found it difficult to get past just the first question.

Q: how’d you come to work at vail?

A: well I graduated college and began working in the finance industry on Wall Street for a firm that went bankrupt 18 months after I joined…

Classic!
