If Rivian gets to R3, their will be lots of ppl in those vehicles. I think R2 will still be pricy now that tax credits will be gone, but then again, I think random ICE midsize SUVs are in the 45 range anyway. Hoping for a strong R2 rollout. They are sharp trucks. The range a plus. You pay for it though. GM has been in the ev game since the beginning. Kicking the snot out of Ford and they did it quietly. They may be the vendor that enlightens skeptical people of the advantages... At least that if what my gut says. My gut also says rivian is going to make it.
My son will be driving age in 2.5 years. I don't know if I would put the coin on R2 given the R1, but it would be cool to have an r3. I just don't think the r3 will be out in 3 years.
If Rivian were to fail, I think someone would buy them, like Amazon, or perhaps a legacy car maker. Certainly now VW is a candidate as Rivian is basically making all the software for the EV VW platforms going forward. I think R2 will be a very worthwhile vehicle, I just don't see how they will actually get it 45k. If it sticks at like 57k price, it is still just a lux vehicle that won't be bought in mass quanity.
