ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

We would use it to tow a mower or our teardrop camper.

From what I understand, originally there was the 2WD hybrid and AWD and the tow package was only available with the gasser. I heard that changed with the newer models and that was confirmed by our local dealer. They said you can, in fact get an AWD hybrid with the tow package. They don’t exist on a lot somewhere they have to be ordered and built.

The tow kit option only costs something like 750 bucks.

Ideally you never want to be towing at a vehicles limit. As Camp pointed out, lots of wear and tear and issues with stoppage.

All the additional packages are pretty cheap on the Ford. The Lariat package has a bunch of things I want, including ACC cruise control, but it has leather seats, don't want.

I don't imagine buying a trailer or towing. The UTV I'm looking at is under 1000 lbs, so if I did decide to buy a trailer and tow it, it would probably be ok.

I wouldn't to much more than a 4 wheeler with that. IMO, towing capacity isn't everything. I'm more concerned with stopping abilities. I couldn't imagine towing 4000 lbs with a Maverick. Sure, it would pull it, but would it be able to stop it in an emergency situation? I'm thinking not.
MIne is electric brake equipped, all wheel drive.

(y) Tacoma is also a great choice.
It is a bummer you are already somewhat disappointed in the Maverick.

For a Ford it seem decent enough. The size is right.

I'm more disappointed in Toyota for:

• Making the Tacoma too big
• Taking forever to introduce the Stout

Not blowing shit up into the air.

Gotta have a gasser. I have a 15 explorer. 110k works fine.

You're probably not there yet but it's getting close. And you don't blow shit up in the air.

I checked out this:

It is pretty compelling. With the big battery it could work for me. But it's $70,000.

The Mav is $36k and I'm getting $24 for my CRV. Right now, those numbers work for me.

Any chance prices are dropping or are there plans for a smaller truck?

They plan a mass version like a model y with suv for launch next year.

I hear a used launch edition will sell for 55-60k. Could be a good deal. As camp has noted ev s have not tended to hold resale value like say a Honda (sold mine in 15 years later for 40 percent of purchase price). Happy hunting.

Also Harv if you lease for 2-3 years (which may be good option with lots of life change for you - you don’t quite know what you want) there will be a big world of evs say even that no frills small truck co backed by bezos.

I know we bogleheads hate leasing but these seems like maybe the right time and place as it is really a short term option on a car. I have never leased but my biggest change was city to burbs.
