ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

It's also turning people away from EVs.
This is very true, and not good for the industry. Especially given the mandates from the feds. Now, in order to get to the product we want, we have to take a certain percentage of EVs. Not only do we have to take them but we're taking them knowing we're going to lose our asses on them. Dumbest thing ever.

I thought the EV mandate was abolished

Not to worry. The industry will flourish with the 25% tariff
Lol

No, well not completely. It's a real issue.

As for these impeding tariffs, hold on to your ass. If people thought prices were stooopid during Covid (and they were), look out. Wholesale $ has been climbing at a steady rate for 3 weeks now, and it's anyone's guess where it will stop. Prices are going up!
This is a very fluid situation. Manufactures are in a holding pattern like we haven't seen in years.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there never was an "EV mandate". There are CAFE standards and selling EVs is a way to balance out all the Brodozers and enormous SUVs American car companies have been marketing and pushing.

Ford doesn't even sell an actual car anymore

It's very complicated. But you are correct.
What I do know is to get to inventory we need, and actually make money on, we are mandated to take boat anchors. Or, in other words, flat out losers.

I'd take an ENORMOUS SUV over any EV. I don't care what you call me or what note you leave on my car --- LoL

I wouldn't lose my ass on it either

As much as I wanted to have replaced my 2014 Honda CR-V with a Hybrid EV of some type I just couldn't find something that checked all my required boxes. So in January I ended up getting a 2025 Honda Passport AWD and I absolutely love it!

Yeah I'm just a Honda nerd. I can even fit my EMTB in the back without taking off the front wheel. The acceleration from that 3.5L Honda V-6 is just ridiculously good. 0-60 in 6.0 seconds--- it would absolutely blow the doors off a mid 1970's Z28 Camaro 🤣

Maybe our next vehicle will be something with a cool alternative propulsion system--- like Hydrogen fuel cell or Mr. Fusion;)

How dare you!
Enjoy yer ride.
