ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

Has anybody mentioned that Plattekill has a couple chargers now?
Where are they located? I used the chargers at Catamount but they are at the farthest possible location from the lifts/lodge. It worked for my needs only because we were there for dinner at the Little Cat restaurant, but if I were skiing I'd be annoyed.

I feel like this is a problem with chargers at ski resorts. Sure you have them, but who wants to be forced to park in the absolute back of the lot?

Per the Platty website, "Located in our Lower Parking Lot adjacent to our maintenance building". According to ChargePoint and EVConnect apps, there are 10 (8 currently in service) 19.2kW chargers with J1772 plugs that cost $0.49/charge + $0.40/kWh. There is also a $15/hour idle fee after 30 minute grace period, which I'm pleased to see.

Taos Ski Valley went the other way. They put the EV chargers in a prime location with the shortest walk to the main base lifts. Probably makes a difference that TSV is a Certified B Corp emphasizing being environmentally friendly.

Having an adapter for Tesla chargers is really amazing. It opens up a lot and you can bypass anything other than a Rivian charger. Never fails. Plug in and start charging.
The infrastructure money that has been spent IMO has not been effective. Unless you drive an EV you probably would not realize it. Those little chargers you see scattered everywhere are useless. They charge at 6-15 miles per hour. I charge at 24 at my house.. every one of them that was installed was subsidize.
Every fast charger installed subsidized. NONE of them can be confidently relied on. Fact check with any ev owner.

Tesla works everytime. Rivian everytime.

Geez to think where we would be if we put the effort behind a provan producer,Tesla. A lot more ev's would be sold.

Those are more for destination charging then fast charging. i.e. Charge up while you are doing whatever it is you drove there to do.

In my limited experience using them they charged at a reasonable rate, but I'm also not driving a 100+kwh Bradley tank

P.S. Just saying, not hating. If I were willing to spend 100k I'd strongly be considering an R1s or a Gravity with their 410-450 mile ranges and 3rd row

If you ever used any of those little chargers you can't possibly think that. You can plug in for four hours and get 32 miles. Stay longer pay an using fee. The only thing they are good for is keeping your battery warm when its cold out.
That's just how I see. The price of the vehicle makes no difference.

I have used those chargers and have gotten 30+ miles / hour. It's not the price, it's the battery size vs range.

The model Y LR has a 80 kwh battery and 310 miles of range. So ~ 3.88 miles/kwh
The longest range Rivian has a 149 kwh battery and a range of 410 miles. So ~2.75 miles/kwh

So the Y is getting 50% more miles then the Rivian while it charges
