How many ski forums do you keep up with?

I keep an eye on this one obviously- and watch, participate in select threads on TGR. But I am continually amazed at how big the internet skiers’ world actually is. For instance, I had no idea that Harv was spreading the gospel here:
I don’t think I need to burn any more time on my IPad than I already do but I’m curious. Is there any must-see content out there I’m unaware of? What am I missing?

This ^^ was a favor for longtime friends and NYSB forum members @jamesdeluxe and @TonyC. They love FTO, it retains a very small, but well traveled audience they appreciate. The former Admin had moved on in his life. He still skis, but his real passion is now RV'ing.

I helped them move from their outdated software to Xenforo (same as NYSB) and because of my (admittedly limited) knowledge of Xenforo, they made me an admin. I routinely weed out new members who are spammers, like I do here. FTO doesn't need any member moderation, because the small tightnit group has zero interest in trolling.

Anyway, James also asked me to post pics to add interest, and told me it was cool to post inbound links to NYSB on a regular basis.

To the original question, my only forum is NYSB. (I do more admin than posting in FTO). I also lurk, and occasionally post in TGR and AZ. Must see? No idea. I do recommend the ECRC (East Coast Roll Call) thread in TGR for eastern stoke if you are interested but have limited time.

Technically "keep up" is a different story. I can't even keep up here. Often people email or txt "did you see what so and so posted? and the answer no.

Just this forum regularly for me. I’ll check TGR once in a while, particularly for PNW threads (there’s an Alpental thread that proves useful). Turns All Year is another PNW forum that I used to frequent, but that one has mostly died off.

I found SkiSoutheast back around 2005 when my daughter was clearly turning into a skier. These days that forum is very inactive but the website is the best source of info for the resorts in my home region. I'm active on a few regional forums for skiing in the east, plus TheSkiDiva (women only). I'll read a few trip reports on FTO every so often.

The largest and oldest online ski forum that I learn the most from about skiing outside the USA is the Australian one (ski. com.au) that's been around since 1995.

In some ways, asking specific questions about a destination resort or other region on a regional forum like NYSkiBlog with a good community can be more useful than on a large forum where people don't know each other that well.

Being a native New Yorker, I like keeping up with the NY ski scene. Also enjoy the non-skiing threads too.

I know that to Harv and some others an internet forum without trolling probably sounds like the land of milk and honey, but to me it sounds a bit boring tbh.

I fade from here for longer periods now because I don’t have many NY days over the last decade. Used to be on snowjournal and AZ a bit. Some facebook groups.

I feel like each of of the stand alone (non fb) forums have a core of longtime posters and a revolving door of medium distance and newer contributors. And I do feel like most of the topics are exhausted.

In the end I want to feel good about skiing and my relationship with it. I don’t want to focus on all the lift line woes at places I don’t ski. I like stoke and pretty scenery and good stories, but I don’t want it to verge into envy or anything because I know I have it good.

This place has been good over the years.

Or it's "laziness."

It's less to deal with in a very busy life: family, work, skiing and content is more than enough. Trolling is just an extra expense.

I also don't care too much about megapass trauma as long as Katz doesn't buy ORDA. Or Plattekill. Or McCauley, Snow Ridge, Titus, Oak or Greek Peak. Or anything else in NY. Or Vermont.

Or Bromley…

and gives us Wildcat back already, damnit!
