Gore vs Belleayre

Started out for a few years at Belle with young family and will probably ski there more this year. That said, Brownski spot on.

One great thing about Gore - on almost any day, you will find good conditions somewhere on the mountain.

Gore's only challenge imo is immediately after a big dump of snow, Gondi may not be up for a few hours, which is painful if you only ski down the main face.

Belle's negative is that many runs ski similarly and they have been a victim of their success with too many skiers in too few acres.

Maybe the title of the thread should be "Gore and/or Belleayre?"

It ain’t a competition... or is it?
If it is, ya might just wanna add Whiteface too, just saying.

Everything said here is good advice, I would just add that Belle is an ideal mountain if you're in a group of mixed ability skiers and riders. That said Gore is subjectively a better mountain in almost every way particularly if you're traveling to the area and have the option of either. If your staying in Albany it would be foolish to travel south to ski, always travel to points north, it will almost always be more better, ya know cause latitude...

Not a competition. I am coming from outside Detroit and just wanted some opinions. Whiteface is getting a little far. Not looking to drive much more than 1.5 hrs

My daughter and I have skied at Gore before and have skied Lies and Rumor, so ability level is not part of the equation. More just Bell would be a new place that we haven’t skied.

Keep an eye on Magic. If they get their lift problems solved and happen to get dumped on just before your trip, it might be worth letting a ticket go to waste- or extending your trip or something

Whiteface in the early morning can be done in 1:55 minutes from Albany. That going 76 in 65. 62 in 55. Skip Belle. As soon as whiteface comes into view from Jay you will he happy you did. The extra 20 minutes each way you spend in the car will be worth the memory you have forever. Belle sucks... But that's just me...you see how many people like it on here.

Gore is big enough that if most trails are open you can really explore and enjoy a lot of different trails and terrain. I never get bored at Gore.

Last time we skied there we did spend one day exploring and the next day going back to the runs we really liked
