Gore Mountain Conditions

A trail through Cirque to the base would still need to cross Echo, so that doesn’t solve the problem unless you restrict racing to above Twisters Sister. Putting racing on Sagamore or even Showcase would work but I don’t know if they could have homologated course. I’m sure NYSEF would object to any change.

There’s no perfect way to manage Gore. It’s way too spread out and poorly connected. You just gotta learn to skate better.

They would widen the last turn on Echo where it goes back to the base so that there would be a way back.

Here is some info on homologated race trails.

Currently, Echo has 4 homologated courses - GS, SG, and 2 SL. Twister has 4 - 2 GS and 2 SL.

Over the years there have been other trails homologated at Gore for various events. When my son was racing in college, there was a SL course on Showcase that started from around Tower B. I do not know if it was homologated. You do not need that have a homologated trail to have ski racing.

But you still have to cross Echo. With enough dynamite you could probably get a trail on the skier's right of Echo from Hedges to Twister. Otherwise, no.

Looks like the previously approved trail comes out after Echo.

UMP’s change as we know...

Anyone been up since Monday? Curious how things are skiing after the bit of niar Monday and today's snow. Debating between Gore and WF for the weekend. Looks like more snow for Gore Sunday...but WF is going to get some upslope that Gore won't tomorrow.

The racers that were at Gore this week were members of PARA (Pennsylvania Area Racing Association) and they were conducting a Super G speed camp. The bibs the kids wear were originally provided by Sports Page and Inside Edge, which are the 2 ski shops in Glens Falls.
Most other races are NYSEF or FIS events.
Thank you for the explanation. Both Sports Page & Inside Edge are top shops in our area. Our family has been using Sports Page for years. Always knowledgeable and helpful. Their season long rental program for kids makes skiing affordable for families. I would think the racers would be returning to Pennsylvania with smiles on their faces. Gore offer them some of the best conditions of the Winter.

Reports I'm seeing say... windy but lifts spinning, two+ inches of snow today, good skiing.

I got nothing on the crunch in the trees factor. Who's skiing today?
