Gore Mountain Conditions

I was all set to go to Gore Monday. Enjoyed Whiteface but the shorter drive is tempting. Plus I need to do some Gore swag shopping for my grandson's birthday, Not surprisingly they will not have Sunway chair running. I had hoped to extend my Bear Cub trails to at least Lower Sunway from the Sunway chair down. Now I would have to do the Sunway area above Wild Air... bad news for me. Reports here have been discouraging. I doubt I will try it but have there been any improvement re: icy conditions?. I even considered a much shorter drive to West Mountain. But they open later at 3pm on Mondays. And then the onslaught of school programs start by 4pm and extend into the lighted skiing hours. With racing to the left and a terrain park to the right the Face area of West will be congested... to congested for my old bones. But my old bones do not want to stay home...

Here's some more questions:

Bruce Transue was recently appointed VP of operations for all the ski areas. What authoruty did Bone lose iin that reorganization? Does Gore still have its own operations manager? What authority did the Gore operations manager lose?

mm
Is Bruce the person they brought into run Belle a few years ago from hunter?

They were making snow on sunway. It should be much improved tomorrow.

Gore has made lots of improvements to their snowmaking system over the last several years but this year has been one huge leap backwards. The system is very large and very complicated with primary, secondary and tertiary pumping systems. Gore needs an outside professional familiar with large pumping systems to review the entire system and make recommendations on how to operate the system properly with the available snowmaking staff. The snowmakers themselves work their tails off and are under paid. Planning of the systems operation is very complex. A qualified specialist of complex open ended (ie fire protection sprinkler) pumping systems would provide very beneficial recommendations for improvement. Tackling it in house will not provide the results the costumers expect. Gore fell way back this year. I am confident next year they can make us forget about this year if they seek and listen to outside professionals advise.
