Going Under the Knife

Thanks for the well wishes. She is is still in the Toronto hospital. Good news is that it is not asbad as originally thought, bad news is that it is still bad. Likely one fractured vertebra (L1). Plus four broken ribs. Doc wants an x-ray before final final surgery decision despite two CT scans and MRI. This is the best hospital in the Hinterlands for spinal injuries so we will be patient. She is on good drugs and the doc told her not be shy about asking for more.

Lawsuit not out of the question.
oh man I am so sorry to hear about your wife SBR . That is a painful injury and no doubt will require some time to rehabilitate.

You did the right thing getting her to a great hospital.I will have her in my prayers 🙏 and wish her a strong recovery.

She is fortunate to have a loving partner who is there for her and will be a source of both compassion and encouragement .

Stay strong 💪 you both Got This !! 🙏

Thanks all.

Sunday update:

Not much big news:
- I have the commute dialed now.
- BT had an x-ray this morning. No results as it seems the surgeons take the weekend off unless it is an emergency. This is not an emergency (good/bad).
- BT was moved out of the Trauma section into Ortho, same floor, just around the corner. She has lost her window view and has a roommate that watches television.

I hope to have more scintillating news tomorrow!

At least now she has the push pain medication so can self medicate! Hydromorphone FTW.

Blue Toes can always suggest the Tour de France to the TV watching roomie.

Ouch, sorry to hear this SBR, hope she has a full speedy recovery

Best wishes to Blue Toes for a speedy recovery, and also to SBR for all the support you are providing her! Sounds like it could have been a whole lot worse.

I'll be going under the knife myself later this week. I broke an elbow in the woods at Jay 20 years ago and had some hardware put in there. It is now starting to cause mobility issues and some pain (maybe it shifted, who knows), so they are taking it out on Thursday. One accident, two surgeries.

Thanks all.

I think I had the same roommate. :p

I also had to wait because I crashed and burned on US labor day weekend. See if you can find her a good nurse who can do a sponge bath. That made all the difference to me.
