Every Blooming Thing

Amelanchier canadensis

AKA Shadbush or Serviceberry. Its flowers are a signal that the shad are running up the rivers and the ground is thawed enough to commence with burial services. Its fruit is an important food source for birds. Planting one is known as being “better than a bird feeder”.

Happy Easter NYSB!

It won’t be the last.

Dandelions are a great spring cleanser for the body. The leaves, flowers and roots are edible.

I spy a violet as well in your pic. The bi-colered ones are known as Confederates which are an escaped variation of the common blue. They are edible and provide health benefits as well but only the leaves and flowers, no roots.

Just don’t go picking where the hound does his business.
