East Coast Ski Trip Outside of NY

Maybe it's Bristol thing which is often too crowded as it is, but so many snowboarders sit in the middle of the trail to take a break or wait for their buddies, seemingly having no situational awareness that they are in the way. It's probably more of an age thing, a common affliction of the young and inept. They could be more accepted if they moved to the side of the trail. Even my daughter, whom both boards and skis will comment about them lounging in the middle of the trail.

Most likely lack of awareness, but one other thing to remember is that standing still, on a slope, on a snowboard, is actually probably an advanced intermediate skill. Which is why there is so much sitting. And sitting makes you less visible to people approaching from above. So there might be some self preservation amongst all the obliviousness and entitlement that you see.

Remember when falling, spinning around and coming out just skiing again weren’t called worm turns?

To my memory, a 360 was a complete spin on the snow, helicopters were in the air.

The kids sitting across the middle of the run is irritating. I’ve seen 5-6 wide blocking up a good chunk of the run.

I can’t imagine sitting on a ski run with my spine exposed and back turned to uphill traffic. That’s so insane to me.

I refer to them as Mountain Vermin. They are also the most likely to run into and hurt someone else and also be carted down the mountain in the sled on ski club night.
