Buddy B. Draining-em Boeheim

Pardon the rant : JB is a great recruiter but Imho sometimes a weak tactical coach. Frankly he is and has been very slow to analyze and adjust game circumstances.

I grew up playing the 2-3 zone in grade school thru college. When I coached in college it was our preferred defense BUT c'mon man.

I am certainly no hoops guru and will not argue that JB isn't a successful guy ,but Hell SOMETIMES you need to adjust when your opponent is killing the 2/3 in any number of ways ,then shift and get in their face with an aggro M2M

JB lives and dies with the 2/3 and against The Gate they WERE humiliated because of this .
Time for a new approach
Yup.
JB coulda woulda shoulda hung up his sneakers after Ole Miss beat the Orange in the dome and before Hopkins left for Washington.
Didn’t know ya coached hoops in college Warp. Attaboy! I was the the “coach” of our faculty&staff intramural team in college if that counts for anything. We had a good team and went with 2-3 zone most times but it was before the 3 pointers were a thing.

Tis good to see Girard is playing well again this year.
Hopefully the Colgate game was an aberration.
Cuse can score. Can Cuse stop the other team from scoring more this year?
Time will tell.

Attaboy Tski I too was on a barnstorming Faculty Staff hoops squad that played the other 3 college F/S teams and several town teams around St Lawrence and Jefferson counties. Yep played 2/3 Z there too also B4 the 3 became a thing..

My college coaching career came to an end when children came along and We were building a new campus. So I was promoted to help design and manage the facilities planning efforts at the college . fun times loved coaching as an extra duty during my initial appointment there.

Agree, Losing Mike Hopkins was NOT a wise move

We had faculty and staff PhD players who had played hoops on college teams.
All we had to do was get the ball to them.
We’d play against lady Rebel players sometimes in practice pick-up games.
Most important things I did coach-wise was telling folks who were tired to let someone else come in and figuring out who we had to watch out for while playing defense.
And buying the first pitcher of beer afterwards.

Ya might know Jerry Welch. Great Potsdam hoops coach.
He also taught a golf PE class I took.
We rarely went outside as it was too f-n cold. Might’ve also been a reason I went south for grad school.

Sure I know Jerry, had a couple friends play for him one is a NNY hs coaching legend Bill Merna

Cuse-Nova hoops in the garden @9 ESPN.
Cuse just beat Indiana (in double overtime) for the 5th time in a row after losing in last seconds for the NCAA championship.
Then beat FSU Seminoles at The Tuck to end the longest home winning streak in the country.
Nova’s 6th or so in the country.
Could be a good game.
Jimmy V Classic.

Ole Miss on the road @ 18th ranked Tennessee who didn’t score in the first 7:40 of the game, had a 7 point lead in the first half.
Game went to overtime and Rebs lost with 27 total turnovers in the shit show.

Cuse on the road @ 11-3 Miami had an 18 point lead in the first half. Miami scored 58 2nd half points,
Cuse lost by 1.
.
Another NIT matchup would be a small blessing at this point.

Another Saturday of college hoop beat downs.
Cuse down 31 to lose by 20 at the Cameron to Dukies.
Ole Miss blown out by the Bulldogs in Starkganistan.
Both teams will be lucky to make an NIT appearance at this point.

34 years ago today Pitt’s Jerome Lane destroyed a basket on a dunk.
Today Cuse lost @ Pitt to go 9 and 11.

Cuse is, as usual, very frustrating to watch. Live and die by the three ball, smh. I know coach recruits for the zone and I understand that, but we need a real big man! With the shooters we have if we had any kind of inside threat we'd run with anyone. Right now we have to shoot 75% to run with these guys. UHG!
