Holiday Valley is $110 and Greek is $120, so they are not out of line with the other "big" areas, not that I would pay it. Even Swain is $79.

Thanks for confirming. I'll hold off until Meteor and Galaxy are open at least.

On pricing, yeah so far Bristol has managed to set pricing closer to GP and HV, but hitting the $100 mark is a big mental threshold for consumers in my opinion. I saw the reaction of family that used to ski Bristol regularly. At least HV and GP are "destination" ski resorts with way more varied terrain/trails and ways to get to the bottom. HV/GP also offer pretty steep discounts for 2-3 day passes which is what many get when going to a "destination" resort. Whereas Bristol is primarily a "day" hill for folks driving in/out in the same day from the Rochester region. I just can't see people judging a Bristol visit as the same value as a trip to GP/HV which is why I'm wondering how many are really buying day passes for $104? Yes Bristol is busy and being so close to ROC is a huge help, but at some point I see them hitting a price ceiling well sooner that HV or GP.

Yeah, I'm still sore about them raising the price of the dozen card pack tickets by near 17% last year. Seems like they just keep jamming in the eye of anyone that doesn't buy a season pass.

I agree with this. I just bought a friends son a day pass for GP so he could go make some turns while home from college. Anyway, I definitely had a hard time pulling the trigger for $120, but in today's world, what's a 100 bucks? I looked at it as cheap entertainment for the day for this kid. Gawd knows I'll blow a 100 bucks on stupid shit all the time. LoL
 
Thanks for doing that Camp. Listen, I think we can agree that $120 is very high but this is an industry wide problem- not particular to Greek. Stu brought the issue up with one of the new owners of Killington and the dude blew it off completely- said something like “It doesn’t matter cause we don’t even sell that many window tickets…” which really misses the point. I could say sure, I can afford it but that misses the point too. We need young people to be able to afford this sport even if they don’t plan out their whole season by the end of August. We have become so used to dynamic pricing that we rationalize it too much. At $120 a day, we might as well just make it a private club

I know that the first Saturday Greek was open they sold over 100 day tickets
Everything around us is wicked expensive. Everything.
 
Today's report. Nothing new open, but Outer Orbit was resurfaced and guns were going on U/L Galaxy, Upper Northstar, Milky Way, Morning Star and the pond is at a good level with more water pouring in. Some icy spots, but all in all nice conditions considering the rain and wind on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

One gripe-line management. In between non assertive line managers ( a young girl who is too timid to call people out), groups of 4 who straggle to the gates and can't line up when they get past them, and people who are clueless about how RFID cards work made for an occasional shit show. Trying to get up as a single was frustrating at times.

Regarding our discussion on pricing, yes, I'd agree HV/Ellicottville is a destination and with their infrastructure is probably worth a premium even with their limited vertical. I don't view Greek the same way. Yes, they've got the hotel, but other than that, not much. Mud parking lots, slow chairs, run down lodge etc. I do like the idea of their "use anytime" three pack though.
Yes, there are lot of things that Bristol could do along those lines to make for a more customer friendly experience.

Greek doesn’t look like they discount lift tickets for old farts.
Bristol does.

But just checked Greek’s price for next Tuesday and it’s $48.
Bristol’s $75 for old farts for the same day.
Neither ain’t bad but not as good as McCauley’s $5 deal.

Hold the phone. Through Ski Company can ski four different Sunday evenings at Hunt Hollow for $20. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Hunt Hollow is $65. And if you are at Hunt Hollow on a Wednesday or Thursday, it is like you own the place. Swain had great deals at the end of last season with the mountain completely open, would expect Swain to do the same this year. But nothing like $5 McCauley.
