Bristol Conditions

Hope yer OK.
Thanks! Yes, I'm OK. Bindings did their job and released when they should have. Skied for a couple more hours then went to the Y, did a lazy workout then got in the hot tub. Skipping today as I'm sure it will be a zoo. Hopefully skiing with the grandkids tomorrow if they can get their butts out of bed.

2/22 - Crowded parking lot but the hill seemed fairly empty in the early morning. Super groomers. Sun. They officially opened Orion’s Belt around 10am.

My wife said 41 days straight of snow reported at the airport? Today was the first break.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen as much snow in the woods as they currently have. On fallen trees easily 2-3ft base on top.

I wish they opened earlier on the weekends, or just in general.

I think a lot of cars were for the college race? But yes overall definitely not crowded. Not dead either. Wait times were short to non-existent.

Pretty epic day with a bluebird sky. North Star was fabulous! It was our first run and we just kept ripping laps. Galaxy was mostly great and Rocket was pretty good on the edges. Meteor meh. Just have to watch for ice patches on every run especially as the morning progressed.

15 runs in all with six on Northstar alone. We were headed to Other Half brewery by 1130.

@Spencer yes they should open earlier.

Sorry for no updates-new computer was getting changed over and I don't have the patience to write on my phone (yes, I'm old!)
Sorry I missed Saturday-I figured it would be a zoo and I guess I figured wrong. Skied Sunday with my oldest granddaughter from close to open until noon. Fair conditions, but overcasts. Still it was great to ski with one of the kids-she's 14 and a very good skier. Crowds weren't bad, especially on the Galaxy chair.

Yesterday was nice, decent light with some sun, but got progressively windier. The run back from Lower Northstar got tougher as you were greeted with a headwind at the bottom. Tried one run off the Crawler (decided to work on turns) and with the wind it was hard to get up any speed on Milky Way-experiment over. Quit about noon.

Last Tuesday morning race today. Predicted rain showed up as a few on and off sprinkles. Snow was soft-not the best for racing, but hero for freesking until it got piled up. Still nice, but I quit soon after the race giving my old legs a rest. Hope the cool down happens soon as if the warmth keeps up it will cause significant snow loss.

Wonderful day at Bristol today. Got out just past 9:00 with sun and grooming. Didn't take long for the snow to soften up to hero snow-very edgeable, especially the parts of the run to skier's left where the sun hit it. One run down the loop to warm up, then to the northside where the Galaxy chair was running. Nice soft small moguls to skier's left on Galaxy-I ran these a few times as they were perfect for an old man. I'm leaving Sat for Colorado and we're racing Friday, so I decided to ski all the trails as who knows what will be left when we get home. Ended up skiing everything except Upper Infinity, and did do 4 trips up the Crawler to ski the trails back there. Snow was soft everywhere and NOT sticky. Finally quit around 1:00 as after shedding a layer earlier, I got cold when the sun disappeared. Not crowded at opening, and deserted when I left.

Where are you skiing in CO?

Where are you skiing in CO?
Staying in Frisco with IKON, so Copper, Abasin for the first weeks. Long story, my wife and a friend are already out there with the Epic pass, so they are doing those resorts this week. We may move to either Steamboat or Winter Park after that.

I'll rely on you guys to keep the reports going. Trying to get my friend Charlie A. to submit reports as he's newly retired and is down there a lot. He's having trouble registering for the forum, but he posts on Facebook's "Ski the Northeast group a lot.

Have a great trip Johnny!

We did Steamboat for a week last March and had a great time. Loved the mountain, town and public transportation. The sunset happy hour on the mountain was special.

If you get to Steamboat and like good beer and pizza stop by Storm Peak Brewing Bus Stop location just a short walk from the gondola area.

Safe travels.
