Bristol Conditions

It was good today until it wasn't. Beautiful blue skies, warm, softened up quickly, then by 11:00 or so got very sticky in some spots. Did a couple of runs and called it-hated to as the weather was SO nice, but it was dangerous. On the top of the Loop, I had to get back on the tails of my skis to get any kind of momentum going. Hated to quit, but live to ski another day. Warm wax for tomorrow mornings race!

Sunny and soft right off the bat. We got through our morning race with a slip after the first run-in some ways good we had a low turnout or the ruts would have been horrendous. Hot in the sun-I took off a layer at the start under my race suit. Took off the race gear and went out for one more run-getting chunky and sticky. My legs were beat-hated to quit as it was warm and sunny and looks like it's getting close to the end, at least for a lot of trails..............at the end of February...............:(

Read on Facebook (and probably the website) that they will be closed tomorrow due to incoming weather. Way too warm to groom tonight and with rain predicted it looks bad. What a tough winter.............

Based on the trail report it looks like they lost some terrain 😢

Given my upcoming western ski trip I'm probably leaving 5 of 12 passes unused. Unless mother nature gives us a big dump soon I'm guessing they'll be lucky to make it till late March.

Yup. Skied Upper North Star after our race Tuesday and the top was getting thin and brown. Same with Milky Way on Sunday. I could see them blowing snow on a few of the trails to resurface, but it doesn't look good. They've put in a valiant effort despite the weather fighting them all the way. Two foot March dump!

I'll probably go tomorrow and give an "on the scene" report. Enjoy your trip!

Another blue sky day! Got out about 9:30 and the snow was firm in spots, but got softer as the morning went on. U16 super G race on Comet/Outer Orbit. They were going when I got there and were done by 11:30-12:00 or so. Course seemed to hold up well for the kids. We lost Upper North Star, Southern Cross, Nova and Milky Way since Tuesday and there are brown spots appearing in lots of places. Comet opened up in the early afternoon and it was nice.

We have three beer league races scheduled for next week and so far it doesn't look good.........Hate to say this as you know I'm a Bristol fanboy, but I'm getting bored. They have done their best (they even blew snow in a couple of areas last night), but it's probably going to be an early end to the season............

Thanks for the update. I was contemplating Sunday but this confirmed what I fear. Definitely sad and despite my past criticism of Bristol over the years they've done as well as possible this season.

I'll ride my mountain bike this weekend instead.

Beautiful April day at Bristol today...............too bad it's March 4th! Sunny, snow got soft and wasn't sticky-was 71 in the car when we left. Not looking good for an extended season-quite a few trails had bare spots or holes and will be done soon. Sad, sad, sad................Grilling on the patio tomorrow to take advantage of the nice weather, but WAY too soon.

Rocket this morning about 11:00 or so. Just about ready to shed a layer. Rocket is probably has the most snow of any trail on the hill.

Fading fast......................:( Crunchy in the AM as they were not able to groom but got softer as the day went on. Bigger brown spots and holes on many trails. Sunset is just about done, bare spots on Galaxy, Meteor, Comet and Outer Orbit. It finally got sunny and a small group of us partied on the Sunset patio with grilled Zweigles, assorted snacks, deserts and adult beverages. Typical of the gathering we like to have the second weekend of April-guess we're a month early.
