Bonehead Move

Tried to park car in garage with Thule ski box on top. Cracked it and pieces broke off. Fortunately, Gorilla glue seems to be working so far.
I worry about doing something like that every time I have my Kayak on top of my car. Makes me think about the Flex Seal commercial where the guy cuts his boat in half.
I leaned my ski poles against the passenger side of my car one time to put my skis in the trunk when the puddle was higher on the drivers side. Drove off without them. Which was a bummer because my son had given them to me as a Christmas present.

Like Camp, I've left plenty of golf clubs behind. Now I put them in my own way back to the bag to remind me that one is on the ground.
It’s another reason to walk courses with a push cart.
When they make me take a cart it’s challenging to not leave clubs as I bring too many for short shots around the greens. Brother is just getting back in to playing and always rides. Started leaving at least 1 behind a round but he’s been improving. May be he just likes riding around looking for em.

OK I can blow this one out of the water.

I pulled into the garage with 2 bikes on the roof, on a Thule rack.

It was the major damage trifecta:

Bikes
Rack
Car

Even MORE vexing imagine this. At the time I drove a stick (when CRV still had one). I came up slowly to the garage and stopped for a second, then slowly let the clutch out.

"That's odd I don't seem to be getting over that small bump in the entrance to the garage. I'll let out more clutch and give it more gas!"

FrrrrrRRmmMMFFPP! Done.

Man did I swear.

I'm glad your stuff was ok! How were the conditions?
Um yea like you care about his stuff wp. "How's my packed pow doin' Scrund?"

About 5 yrs ago, 17" LE event in Binghamton in November, former member here was skinning Aqua Terra during the day. I told him I'd come up and ski one run after work. Called Big D, to my surprise, said he'd go. Get out of work, rock skis and powder skis on my Thule. Stop to pick up D. As per my usual routine picking him up, I get out of the car and give the big Thule buttons a wack disengaging them on their first step, still need to hit them again to fully open. Big D brings snow blades, pops em in my hatch. I take of with the Thule partly latched , made it about ¼ mile 60mph when BANG, both pair of skis fly off the top of my car. I was so shocked instead of stopping, putting four ways on and backing up, I drove to the off ramp and ran red lights to get back to my skis. Priceless image of Big D in my rearview mirror, running like Tim Conway as the old man on the Carroll Burnett show grabbing my last ski, tour bus barrelling down on him. Of course not a scratch on my rock skis, broke the heel piece off my powder skis. Did still make a run at Aqua Terra.

Skied Greek last night with kid, get home and realize mine and her’s skis are not in truck!
Apparently I left them leaning on truck and never loaded them. My defense is wife called and SHE side tracked me, so really it’s her fault ?
Drive clear back up to Greek (45 min) and there they sit in a pile. That sure was a stressful drive back up, totally expected to see hers ( rentals ) but never thought I’d see mine. (AXs)
Faith in people was my lesson of the day. Anyone else pull this stunt and get away with it?
Could have been a Silver lining to the scenario if you had gone back and skis were gone. Not sure if it would be the same but a few yrs ago a friend was Golfing at Bethpage Black. Finished & left clubs in parking lot. Went back an hour later and they were not there. Reported to clubhouse, police etc to no avail. Silver Lining: He got a whole new set and bag under his Home Insurance. The clubs he left were about 10 yrs old and he got new ones that were better because they didn't even make the same models he left behind. It only cost him $250 for his deductible.
So you could have ended up with 2 new sets of skis and bindings for $250. if you had the same type coverage.
