Belleayre Conditions

First day out. Sad I missed out on last weekend but was in Atlanta for work and didn't get back until Sunday so today was day 1 of the season. Picked Belle over Gore due to resurfacing after the niar and they had more open.

Solid day really. They definitely blew more snow on the trails that were open prior to the rain and it showed. Dot and Seneca especially were great with hardly any ice and hard packed powder. Everything else was pretty good too except Yahoo which was pretty skiied off. Wanatuska and Onetora had lots of loose gun pow on the steep sections. They were blasting Belleayre Run ttb and I bet that's open tomorrow if not Monday. Peakamoose too. There were guns going on other trails as well and really cranking out the snow with the cold temps.

Belle has really been killing it last few years with the snowmaking since the system upgrade and likewise with grooming and recovering after a big rain storm. Honestly, if you told me it rained this week I wouldn't have gathered that from the conditions. They were manmade only conditions vs huge post rain conditions.

Wasn't really minus the race team swarming Dot from time to time. Other than that I had most trails nearly to myself or just a few others. Lift lines were nil except the Gondola around 1:15 for some reason. I don't know where they all went though.

Another nice day today. Snow is good, sun in and out, not too cold. Snow good but everything else is a shit show. In addition to the disco lodge stuff, now there are no bathrooms @ overlook. The GC that was fired crushed a sewer pipe over the summer. They are serving food at sunset lodge - French fries (and variations like poutine) and chili only.

No crowd. Walk on box laps all morning. 6 opened after a short delay to de-ice chairs after overnight snowmaking on Belleayre run. Run of the day is winnisook which appears to be officially closed but has soft whales. Onondaga to horseshoe open. Peekamoose opened today but was firm and fast. They should have about everything open for Xmas week.

Glad to hear the food is back at Sunset. Is it only on weekends? It was a bummer when they didn’t have it. I think it’s usually a vendor that does it and they couldn’t get anyone last year. I believe it’s the highest food service in NY. It would be nice to see the fireplace up there going again to. What’s up with that?

Update: bathrooms are working at overlook now

Not sure on schedule for food up at Sunset but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s weekend and holidays only. It’s centerplate, same as the food vendor on rest of the Mtn.

I think the fires in fireplaces are all done because of liability

Yeah I was there this weekend, gotta agree on the shit show, ever after they fixed the bathrooms, half the urinals are out of order.
The walkway to the lower level of overlook was not plowed yesterday at all, and there was lots of snow, I don't know what's going on, but someone up there is really dropping the ball, you can't blame everything on some contractor.
If they are so worried about liability, how about shoveling the sidewalk?.

Somehow Platekill has running fireplaces....

I will echo what I said last week, the snow makers really are acing it, so kudos to the them! but the rest of the place in really doing poorly.
