Back at it after 10+ years

Yoga has been a great help to my fitness. I started just a little bit when I was 49. I now practice three or four days a week, doing things I never thought I could do. The first time I saw half pigeon pose, I thought people were nuts. Now, it is one of my favorites.

I am 56. Prior to the pandemic, I was exploring handstands and headstands with my teacher.

As my farrier says, yoga is stupid hard. I love it. :)
i do a combination of stretching and yoga. its a 20 minute daily routine. it all revolves around my core. it has been a game changer for me. i wouldn't be skiing at the ripe old age of 56 without committing to it.

I played at Syracuse.
Awesome! Big Cuse fan here, have been for as long as I can remember. What an experience it must have been to play in the dome. I'll never forget being in the dome when Earl The Pearl Washington made a half court shot to beat Patrick Ewing and Georgetown. Place went nuts! I played D2 hoops so I have a bit of understanding about beating your body up.

I laid off for 30 years. I was more a person who went a couple times a year, so was never really an accomplished skiier. Just turned 53 and tipping the scales @ 275 (on my way down from 350). Best advice I can give is hit some weight traning. The difference for me from last year to this year is practically immeasurable due to that. The confidence it gives that each and every crash isn't going to wipe out the rest of your season is huge. Allows you to push a little harder without that fear. I have a season pass for Berkshire East/Catamount. They are both decent variety of terrain in a compact area and pretty easy drive from Saratoga. Could be pretty good places for your first season back to get back in the groove.

Just wanted to say, chapeau for dropping that weight. When I was a personal trainer, there was a guy in my gym (not my client) who dropped 130 lb over time. Keep after it, and use your story to inspire others.

Welcome back OT88, plenty of old kids here! I started yoga about 5 years ago, still just do the beginner stuff but owe my relatively pain free hips and shoulders to practicing a few times a week. Between the studio we went to getting sold and the 'vid, I've been basing my routine on this video and adding a few things here and there - cat/cows, half sun salutations etc., great for getting started. My wife thinks I have a thing for Candace (and she's right a little ;))

Great to hear! I do a bit of yoga but have wanted to incorporate more. Thanks bud!
That would be bud-ette.
But some buds are female.

Went to core, abs & legs classes before the vid and the class was mostly ladies.
Ladies have stronger abs than dudes.
Most likely built that way for pushin out the kids. YMMV.
Have fun skiing.
