Wilderness Search: On Feb. 18 at 5:15 p.m., Ray Brook Dispatch received a call from Whiteface Ski Patrol about two teenagers who got off trail. Cell phone coordinates placed them west of the Little Whiteface Summit. Forest Rangers Adams, Duchene, and Lewis responded. At 6:34 p.m., Ranger Lewis learned the 15-year-old made it out, but the 17-year-old from Lake Placid was still in a drainage area and his cell phone battery died. At 8:30 p.m., Rangers and Ski Patrol located the subject and helped him out of the woods. Resources were clear at 9:32 p.m.

The pitch where the guy fell on Saddleback is scary enough in summer.
Yeah, it’s a straight drop and it’s deep in there. Kudos to the rangers. Those guys are hardcore.

That one didn't have enough energy to really be destructive or harmful but definitely a red flag of what you could find on bigger, steeper slopes on similar aspects.
Well, the guy did get buried and felt it could have been a lot worse if he hadn't been able to get his body shifted and arm up during the slide.

Ahh, I was thinking of the other vid I saw of SL. Yeah, it doesn't take much especially if you get dragged through a strainer.
