It could, possibly but the people in this incident were experienced.

“I would have dug a pit.” Haha, where’s that guy? I’m not going to armchair this much. It’s very sad. Most big objectives don’t happen until very late in the season. Ski stuff that always sloughs, wait for corn or stick to low angle. The rest of it is luck. RIP.

Oh man. “That guy”, no doubt. In my 30 years of back country skiing I can count how many pits I’ve dug on one hand.
