Windham Conditions

Have the Ikon Pass this year so went yesterday for a day trip. Wolverine was good, Warpath was solid, everything else was icy. Blacks on the east peak were some of the ice-coast-iest stuff i've skied. I had taken my kid to Mt. Peter for a lesson on Thursday and skied while there, they had dust-on-solid ice in many places but it was more edgeable and fun than a bunch of the trails at Windham.

I had modest expectations and I know the Catskills got a lot of rain the prior weekend followed by a deep freeze but honestly after seeing posts on here that Plattekill was looking good I was surprised to find ice everywhere.

Plattekill had some surprise (unforecast) lake enhanced snow (after the liquid precip) that I don't made it to Windham or Hunter.

This is a bit late but still worth posting since this thread doesn't get much traffic. As mentioned in the Plattekill thread, I headed over to Windham for some late laps on Friday 3/14/25. Pulled into the lot at 2;15pm, got a spot right in front of the main lodge, and was on the lift by 2:30pm. Moderate size crowd, no lift lines, and empty trails. Lots of snow and terrain open (44 trails). Snow was soft and fast, with minimal icy and bare spots. it was just firm enough for some speedy carving with no edge chatter, as the snow was uniformly good with no frozen layer underneath. Definitely worth the effort to get over there after Plattekill. Looks like they may have survived the weekend's weather in decent shape, especially with the possibility of colder temperatures and some snow in the near future.

Thanks for the report and pics, looks like a fun afternoon. Hoping to squeeze in one more half-day either Sunday or afterwards and weighing Windham vs the 40-min shorter drive to Blue vs paying the day rate for Belleayre. Would be interested in any intel on how it holds up through the next few days.

Started a bit firm, but Windham is very good today. Original plan was to bounce to Belleayre around 1pm for the $10 special, but there’s no reason to leave. Minimal crowd. I’ll post some photos later.

It's too bad the weekend weather was so warm and wet, because conditions were very good on Thursday (and I assume Friday).

new entranceway...plenty of of parking spots in the lot closest to the lodge (this is valet on weekends):
