Gore Mountain Conditions

Gore says they have 320 acres open today & that’s without The Bowl.
Belle says 88% of the 175 total so ~154 acres open.
Takes a lot more snow to put a decent ❄️ blanket on all of Gore.

Next year will be fine. They’ve demonstrated that they c:)an cover the whole mountain in ~2 weeks and we’ve learned how to get ORDA’s attention. They’ll have no excuses next year.

Also, Whiteface is way better for steep trails and Bear Den is the best by far for beginners, but WF is also intimidating for intermediates. I’m more comfortable at Gore. YMMV

Always nice to have someone who thinks positive, amongst the rest of us. :)
Bear Den at Whiteface is a delight for learners and cautious skiers like me.
One of the positives not mentioned often enough is how close the lifts are to the Bear Den Lodge.
Falcon Flyer and Notch lifts are so convenient! As is the parking and drop off area!
I use Bear Cub Quad at Gore a lot, since Sunway Chair is usually not running M-Th.
If only they could find a way to free up Lodge space in the rental center for fans of the Bear Cub.
On most weekdays there are probably only 20 or so (other than lessons) who use the lift repeatedly.
Sure we would all still use the real Lodge as well...
But space set aside for a few tables for a bathroom or warmup break would be welcome.

Really good today. Darby woods is the ROTD.
If you need to complain, the soup is broccoli cheese.

they ran out of corn chowder today. even though the sign clearly stated corn chowder. went with the chili instead. other then that, the day exceeded expectations. glades skied well. hunted and pecked for powder.

Snow removal this morning came as a surprise to me... Wore out my old legs pushing and pulling my ancient snowblower so I never made it north. Out of sheer curiosity, how many parking lots did they use today? I thought maybe after the snowy weekend the 'never ski on weekends' crowd might make for a busy Monday? Of course not busy enough for management to open Sunway Chair.... (n)

@sig it was great to ski with you.

The whole day was fun as hell. The trees offered plenty of good snow with a helping of sketch.

Full disclosure: I waz also disappointed that the crayon sign was mistaken about the availability of corn chowder.
