Yeah, that NYS only (so far) celebration of Lunar holiday was a surprise. The Belleayre Mt crowd was better informed, I believe I read where they SOLD OUT for the day? My political friends claimed it was spurred by Hochul. Since the Asian population was still getting the blame for Covid it was her way to hug and make up? Not sure a holiday that only closes schools is a vote getter but my friends know politics far better than I. At least they are usually telling me I am too dumb to understand? Next push... St Patrick's Day for sure! Most colleges beat her to the punch there. Colleges usually make sure their Spring Break has students off campus on St Patrick's Day!It was good today. Steilhang was open all the way. Darby, Straightbrook, Chateimac and Chatterbox glades were all open with nice snow but not enough base. Twin Fawns was open. It got windy in the afternoon. Hulabaloo was the run of the day. Best day of the year so far.
It was a bigger crowd than I expected with lots of kids. I ran into a teacher friend and it turns out all the NY schools were closed today for Lunar New Year. Who knew?

They shut the guns off on Rumor & Lies. Where they are actually blowing snow, it's pretty wet.Any boots on the ground today? Temps do not seem to be cooperating with this onslaught of moisture based on some reports I’m reading. Hopefully conditions on the hill are more favorable.
That’s too bad. I was there Wednesday and Thursday and it seemed like they were finally getting it together. They made huge piles on Foxlair that groomed out nicely yesterday and Hawkeye might have been the best groomed trail I ever skied. They shut the guns off on Rumor & Lies. Where they are actually blowing snow, it's pretty wet.
Grooming was spotty.
Don't plan on parking at the bowl tomorrow unless you want to take the shuttle.
The North Chair has been down all day and Echo has a race.
Operational/Management show still in full effect.
