Winter Weather 2024/25

Guess where the next winter storm in the southeast is going to shut down schools and businesses Jan. 10-11 . . . at my house near the RDU airport. Even more snow predicted for the Charlotte area, which is where many of the SkiSoutheast regular posters live. On the other hand, the Charlotte meteorologist who does weekly winter videos for SkiSoutheast is very excited. He hasn't seen so much snow and snowmaking weather in a 2-week forecast for a decade.

I'm headed to WV on Sunday to ski Timberline. Probably a few hours at Canaan Valley too since it's on Indy. Might not last too long on Tuesday though because temps will be single digits with high winds. The CV lifts are protected from the wind but are pretty slow.
 
It blows my mind that some places don't get lake effect. I think that I have had ten inches of LE this week, and it is still snowing. Weird.

Ha ha. if gore got the full on lake effect. What a wonderful world it would be
 
If you take the models verbatim, Holy Crap it's going to get cold...The Eruo brings down a 1061mb high..That's F'n insane!!!!

Supposed to snow a bit everyday for the next week.
At least the dang wind died down.
Conditions should be sweet for MLK.

Highs in single digits and teens
But it looks prolonged
