F Vail

11/27/2024, Hunter is totally covered in snow with no opening date announced.
Says Dec. 1 on the homepage . . . as of 8:30pm on Nov. 27.

This season there are more Epic resorts that haven't announced opening day until just a few days beforehand.

Given that Epic passes go off sale on Dec. 2, must be an unofficial goal to get as many resorts open before that as possible.

I skied Xmas eve day..For Sh...and giggles I priced Hunter and Bell....3 day prior I went on line, Hunter was 160$ Bell was 108...
160 for Hunter is F'n insane!!!! Lets us all hope the Vail goes bust....
I was able to score a Bell tkt through a corporate discount for 75$

None of this is surprising, It's the predictable result of moving to a business strategy of almost entirely depending on season passes.
The season pass is a sunk cost, but a day of skiing still has the same value it always has. Back when you were buying day passes you were paying ~$100/day but with a season pass you still have that $100 in your pocket while you're skiing. Paid parking and high food and beverage prices are just ways for Vail to grab that $100. If you don't give it up that $1000 you spent last summer is a total loss.
I wish I could go back to when everyone was so excited about all the cheap multi-passes and find all the posts I wrote in various places about how it was gonna end up sucking for most of us.
